Land Acknowledgement
Passages Centre is situated on Indigenous land and Dish with One Spoon territory. This is the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. Passages Centre acknowledges and thanks these Indigenous nations for their guardianship of this land.
This recognition of the contributions and historic importance of Indigenous peoples must also be clearly and overtly connected to our collective commitment to make the promise and the challenge of Truth and Reconciliation real in our communities, bring justice for murdered and missing indigenous women and girls and honour the victims of residential schools. You can read the reports from the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation to learn about the injustices faced by Indigenous communities in Canada and how to move forward.
