Passages is currently has an opening for a part-time Program Facilitator position for the 2025/26 academic year.
We seek someone familiar with philosophies surrounding self-directed education, homeschooling and unschooling, who wants to work within a community built on trust and openness. Understanding neurodiversity and supporting youth to unmask and embrace their needs is essential, with a trauma-informed, shame-free approach and a sense of the mental health needs of current teens and LGBTQ+ youth.
We are most interested in your attitude, personal experiences with self-directed learning, and your desire for young people to lead empowered lives.
Willing and able to work with Passages staff in a consensus-based environment
Uses a youth-centred approach
Supports learners in developing skills, connection and confidence
Understands how to introduce and utilize learning materials in an atmosphere of non-coercion
Demonstrates warmth, caring, fairness, diplomacy and respect to all Passages members
A belief that meaningful learning is more important than curriculum expectations
Challenges thinking around schooling required curriculum and presupposition of knowledge
Understands developmental changes in pre-teens/teens' behaviour, attitude and intellect
Enjoys teenagers and respects them as inexperienced yet responsible people
